Stroopwafels (Dutch Caramel Waffles Cookies)

Ingredients

Waffle Cookie:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water 105-115 degrees F
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 egg

Caramel Filling:

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Instructions

    To make the waffle cookies:

    • in a very little bowl, sprinkle the yeast over the lukewarm water and stir to mix. permit to take a seat till frothy, 5-10 minutes.
